Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is making concerted efforts to enhance farmers’ income and provide effective solutions to the challenges faced by them. Pursuing this commitment, Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat today held a special meeting with potato growers and cold storage owners at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh to hear and address their concerns. 

Additional Secretary, Horticulture Department, Mr. Latif Ahmed and Director Mr. Manish Kumar were present during the meeting. During the interaction, potato growers and cold storage owners apprised the Minister of the various issues being faced by them. 

They informed that while the Punjab Government has been extending support for the establishment and maintenance of cold storage facilities for potato crops, issues related to the Punjab Pollution Control Board require priority attention and timely resolution. On this occasion, Minister Mohinder Bhagat carefully heard the grievances of potato growers and cold storage owners. 

e said that the Punjab Government is working actively to enhance the income of farmers in the state and to ensure proper resolution of their problems. He further stated that cold storages, warehouses and packing units are being strengthened through the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and other schemes.

The Minister also directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive report regarding the issues being faced by potato growers and cold storage owners. He instructed the officials to establish direct contact with farmers and prepare a detailed report. 

The officials assured the Minister that all tasks would be completed within the stipulated time.
