Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah are true servants of the nation, who are working tirelessly day and night to take India to new heights on the global stage. Sh. Vij was responding to questions asked by media persons in Chandigarh today regarding remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Sh. Vij said that when Congress left power at the Centre, India’s economy ranked 14th in the world, whereas today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is rapidly moving towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy. He said that the country has witnessed unprecedented progress in every sector and India’s global stature has continuously risen.

Advising Rahul Gandhi, Sh. Vij said that he should at least respect the mandate of the people. He stated that while Rahul Gandhi talks about democracy, the people of the country are repeatedly rejecting his ideology and politics. Taking a jibe at him, he remarked that Rahul Gandhi has lost nearly 95 elections, which itself proves that the people are not accepting Congress and its leadership.

He further said that in a democracy, the people are the biggest judge, and today the public is rejecting Congress at every step while expressing confidence in the policies and leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. This is why the BJP or its allies are in power in more than 22 states across the country today.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks accusing the Prime Minister of “drama” and “distributing toffees,” Sh. Vij said that the Prime Minister is the head of the nation and continues to govern and lead the country whether he is in India or abroad. He added that just as the head of a family alerts family members during difficult times, similarly Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also advised the people in the interest of the nation.

Targeting Rahul Gandhi further, Sh. Vij said that among the seven points recently mentioned by the Prime Minister, one point was regarding foreign travels, and perhaps that statement hurt Rahul Gandhi the most because he himself undertakes frequent foreign trips. He said that according to media reports, Rahul Gandhi has undertaken nearly 80 foreign visits so far.

He also said that during the West Bengal elections, Rahul Gandhi was among the star campaigners, but even during the campaign period he remained abroad. Sh. Vij remarked that Rahul Gandhi is upset because Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visits are strengthening India’s global interests, whereas the Congress leadership has failed to understand the significance of these efforts.

Sh. Vij said that India’s foreign policy is now counted among the most influential in the world. Referring to current global circumstances, he stated that it is due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong foreign policy that India’s interests remained protected even during international crises. Citing an example, he said that Indian ships were able to safely pass through the sensitive Strait of Hormuz region while several other countries faced difficulties.
