As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be conducted in the state of Punjab. During the process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out door-to-door verification and fill forms related to the Special Intensive Revision from June 25 to July 24. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh while chairing a special meeting with representatives of various political parties at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

He informed that under the Pre-SIR exercise, 88.27 percent mapping work in the district has already been completed. The district has a total of 2,134 polling stations with 1,971,179 voters, out of which 1,739,946 voters have been mapped, while 231,233 voters remain unmapped. 

He further informed that for this exercise, the district administration has deployed 2,134 BLOs and 213 supervisors along with the complete election staff. He stated that training of BLOs and other preparatory work will be carried out from June 15 to June 24. 

The rationalization of polling stations will be completed by July 24, 2026. In this regard, political parties may submit their suggestions, if any, at the offices of the concerned Electoral Registration Officers.

The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, 2026. Claims and objections regarding the voter lists can be submitted from July 31 to August 30, 2026. Disposal of claims and objections will be carried out from July 31 to September 28, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all political parties to appoint their Booth Level Agents and submit the relevant information at the offices of the concerned Electoral Registration Officers. He clarified that no government employee can work as a Booth Level Agent. He also informed that the voter helpline number for District Amritsar is 1950, and any information related to elections or SIR can be obtained through this helpline.

On this occasion, Tehsildar Elections S. Inderjeet Singh, Election Kanungo S. Rajinder Singh, Secretary Hargurinder Singh Gill from Indian National Congress (Rural), Mr. Vikram Dandona from Bharatiya Janata Party (Rural), Mr. Gurpratap Singh from Aam Aadmi Party (Rural), Colonel M.S. Sandhu from Indian National Secular Democratic Party of India, President Mr. Gurpal Singh from All India Mazdoor Party (Rangreta), President Mr. Surinder Kumar Khosla from Shiromani Lok Dal Party, President Dr. Narendra Kumar from Sachho Sach Party, and National General Secretary Mr. Jugal Kishore from Aas Punjab Party were also present.
