Dogra Art Museum celebrated International Museum Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and visitors, here today. The event was inaugurated by Member Legislative Assembly Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi as the chief guest.

Yudhvir Sethi appreciated the efforts being made by the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums towards the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region. The programme was coordinated by Curator Dogra Art Museum Jammu Mukul Magotra under the supervision and guidance of Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums J&K Kuldeep Krishan Sidha.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA reiterated the vision of the   Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, particularly the Gyan Bharatam Mission and emphasized the importance of preserving valuable manuscripts and cultural heritage across the country.

The celebrations aimed to connect the younger generation with the rich cultural, historical and artistic heritage of the Jammu region. A major highlight of the event was a special exhibition curated by the Dogra Art Museum, showcasing rare artifacts, historic manuscripts and exquisite Dogra miniature paintings drawn from the museum’s prized collections.

The exhibition received high appreciation from visitors and dignitaries alike. The event also featured specially designed interactive educational programmes, including guided gallery walks, heritage quizzes and hands-on art workshops aimed at making history engaging and accessible for the youth.

A large number of students from various schools and colleges visited the museum and explored its valuable collections depicting the vibrant history, art and culture of the Dogra region. The visit provided young learners with an opportunity to understand and appreciate the importance of preserving cultural heritage and historical artifacts.

The celebration sought to raise awareness among the younger generation about the role of museums as important centres of education, culture and heritage conservation. Students also interacted with museum officials and gained valuable insights into the historical legacy preserved at the museum.
