Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a Public Outreach Camp at Block Darhal, reaffirming the administration’s commitment towards strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring prompt redressal of public grievances. During the outreach camp, locals projected a wide range of issues pertaining to basic amenities and developmental needs.

Key concerns raised included scarcity of drinking water, expediting the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes, shortage of staff at PHC Nadian and SDH Darhal, incomplete irrigation scheme at Ujhan, blacktopping of Sarootha Chowki road and the dilapidated condition of the Darhal–Sagrawat road.

The public also demanded construction of a Panchayat Ghar at Sagrawat, reopening of the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Centre at Simbli, speedy completion of Government Degree College (GDC) building, identification of suitable land for a sports stadium, blacktopping of the approach road to Malhut Rakiban bridge and sanctioning of additional handpumps in underserved areas.

Officers present on the occasion responded to the issues pertaining to their respective departments and assured necessary action within a stipulated time frame. The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the grievances and assured that all genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound and transparent manner.

Taking serious note of safety concerns regarding government buildings in the area, he directed the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) to conduct site inspections and submit a comprehensive safety audit report at the earliest. He further instructed officers to remain accessible, responsive and proactive in addressing public concerns, while emphasizing the need for improved service delivery at the grassroots level.

The Rural Development Department was directed to undertake need-based and efficient planning during the formulation of development plans. A pledge was also administered to make the district drug-free under the ongoing 100-day ‘Nasha Mukt’ campaign. Officers and members of the public reaffirmed their commitment to eradicate drug abuse from society.

The outreach camp witnessed participation of ADDC Malikzada Sheraz Ul Haq; CPO Maqsood Ahmed; ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan; ACD Auqil Nuvaid; ACP Mohd Rafeeq; DDE Mohd Nawaz Choudhary; DSWO Abdul Raheem; CAHO Dr Khalid Najeb; CMO Dr Manohar Lal Rana; AD Fisheries; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Rajouri and other concerned district and sectoral officers.
