To honor their contribution in providing quality healthcare services to people, ASHA day was celebrated today in various government health institutions across the district. Senior Medical Officers invited ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activist) to the main health centers and honored them with mementos and certificates of appreciation.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain stated that the day was observed to recognize the valuable contribution of ASHA workers and facilitators in delivering quality healthcare services to the community. Dr. Jain said that ASHA workers play a crucial role as community health workers who go door-to-door to spread awareness about health issues and motivate people to avail maximum benefits of government health services.
She emphasized that ASHA workers are an integral part of the public healthcare system and often work under challenging conditions. She further informed that in order to acknowledge their dedication and tireless efforts, the Punjab Government has decided to observe ASHA Day every year on April 27.
