Traders and Shopkeepers’ Complaints: Administration Directs Resolution of Pending Grievances by Month-End

Taking serious note of the pendency of grievances raised by traders and shopkeepers across various departments, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Ms. Geetika Singh, has directed all concerned departments to ensure disposal of all pending complaints by the end of the current month. Chairing a review meeting of stakeholder departments, Ms. Geetika Singh, along with Chairman Mr. Ranjit Pal Singh and Vice Chairman Mr. Tarlochan Singh Baidwan of the District Traders’ Commission, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, and Chairpersons of Constituency-Level Committees, emphasized that the core objective behind the formation of the Commission is to facilitate traders by ensuring ease of doing business and addressing their collective concerns effectively.

Sharing department-wise progress, she informed that the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has resolved 28 out of 32 grievances, Municipal Corporation Mohali has addressed 46 out of 48 issues, the Excise and Taxation Department has resolved 4 out of 5 cases, while all 12 grievances related to the Police Department have been successfully disposed of.

She further directed that the remaining cases under process should be expedited to instill confidence among the complainants and ensure timely redressal. Chairman Mr. Ranjit Pal Singh urged all departments to act swiftly on pending grievances so that fresh meetings can be conducted with updated progress. 

He reiterated that addressing traders’ issues remains a priority agenda of the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and departments must handle these matters with utmost seriousness. The meeting was also attended by Constituency-Level Traders’ Commission Committee Chairpersons, including Mr. Akwinder Singh Gosal (Mohali), Mr. Ajay Kumar (Derabassi), and Mr. Yashpal Bansal (Kharar). 

Among others present were Assistant Commissioner (G) Dr. Ankita Kansal, DSP (Traffic) Karnail Singh, Assistant Commissioner MC Mohali Mr. Manpreet Singh, Executive Engineer Mr. Rajinder Kumar, along with Executive Officers, PSPCL engineers, and officials from Excise & Taxation and Industry Departments.
