The poor condition of roads, sewerage system, drainage, and electricity infrastructure in Chajju Majra, located near Model Town on Nijjar Road in Kharar, clearly shows that if any area in Kharar is living a “hell-like life,” it is the residents of Royal Residency, Dream Land, Govind Enclave, Alivista Greens, LG Villa, and Drishti Avenue.

This was stated by senior leader of Punjab Bhartiya Janta Party and State Media Head Vineet Joshi after visiting the area on the invitation of local residents. Residents informed Joshi that the functioning of the Municipal Committee Kharar is so poor that a road of approximately two kilometers has remained incomplete for the past four years.

Currently, the road is unpaved, consisting of loose soil, which turns into a swamp not only during rains but even on normal days due to sewer overflow and drainage water. Vehicles often get stuck or slip, increasing the risk of accidents, and even walking has become extremely difficult.

Residents further stated that due to sewer overflow and the lack of a proper drainage system, dirty water accumulates around roads and residential areas, causing foul smell and a rapid increase in mosquitoes. This has led to a growing risk of diseases.

The situation is particularly unsafe for children and the elderly. Joshi said that due to the taxes paid by the people of Kharar during the purchase and construction of plots, flats, houses, and shops, the Municipal Committee Kharar is among the wealthiest committees in Punjab, with fixed deposits worth hundreds of crores.

Despite this, the lack of basic amenities reflects a major failure. He held Aam Aadmi Party MLA Anmol Gagan Mann responsible for the situation. In conclusion, Joshi stated that since the appointments and transfers of the Executive Officer and other officials of the Municipal Committee are carried out by the state government, the AAP government is directly responsible for the issues in Chajju Majra and other areas of Kharar. He warned that if the problems are not resolved soon, an agitation will be launched.
