Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla visited the villages of Nag Kalan and Nag Khurd in the Majitha Assembly constituency to assess the damage caused to crops due to recent heavy rainfall, strong winds, and hailstorm. During the visit, he interacted with farmers, listened to their concerns, and inspected the situation in the fields.

He stated that it is extremely unfortunate that months of hard work by farmers have been destroyed within moments due to a natural calamity. Continuous rainfall and strong winds have caused waterlogging in the fields, leading to almost complete destruction of wheat and maize crops. In many places, crops have fallen to the ground, severely affecting productivity.

MP Aujla said that farmers are already burdened with debt, and such losses have dealt a major economic blow to them. He appealed to the Chief Minister to immediately conduct crop damage assessment and provide fair compensation to the affected farmers based on accurate evaluation, so that they can recover and prepare for the next crop cycle with confidence.

He also expressed dissatisfaction with the government, stating that in the past, compensation was not only inadequate but also failed to reach many affected farmers. He demanded that this time the assessment process should be transparent and that every farmer should receive their rightful compensation.

He warned that if timely assistance is not provided, the financial condition of farmers may deteriorate further. He emphasized that if farmers survive, only then will the country’s economy remain strong, and urged the government to take immediate action.Additionally, MP Aujla had earlier visited the Rajasansi and Attari areas, where similar crop damage was reported, and interacted with farmers there.

On this occasion, constituency in-charge Sardar Bhagwantpal Singh Sachar, District President of Kisan Congress Amritsar Sardar Parampreet Singh Sabi Chhajjalwaddi, Block President Sardar Navtejpal Singh Sohiya, Chairman Sardar Gurmeet Singh Raju Bhilowal, President Navdeep Singh Sona, along with other associates, were also present.
