Cabinet Minister Aman Arora initiated, inaugurated, and distributed grants for development projects worth approximately Rs 13.26 crore in Longowal and surrounding villages under the Sunam constituency.On this occasion, Arora stated that several important projects have been approved and launched to strengthen the road network in the Longowal area.
These include the laying of the foundation stone for a road along the minor canal from Harchand Singh Longowal Marg on the Longowal–Pindi Kambowal Road (Rs 68.12 lakh); a road from Sheron–Killa Bhariyan Road to Batua Khurd bus stand (Rs 81.74 lakh); a road from Batua Khurd road to the dera (Rs 56.76 lakh); and a road from the grid to the Batua Khurd link road (Rs 48.13 lakh).
In addition, major road construction projects have also been initiated in Pindi Dhilwan and other villages. These include the road from Longowal–Pindi Dhilwan Road to Badbar Longowal Road (Rs 77.20 lakh); Longowal to Pindi Kehar Singh Wala via Pindi Dhilwan (Rs 4.22 crore); a road along the minor from Longowal Mander Kalan Road to Desupura Road (Rs 2.61 crore); Longowal Jharon Road to Kothe Desupura and Jhiri Wale Dera (Rs 1.42 crore); and a road from Pindi Desupura Longowal Road to Mander Kalan Jharon Road up to Shaheed Baba Nikka Singh Ji (Rs 1.18 crore).
The Cabinet Minister also announced several grants to strengthen social infrastructure. A new room at the Government Middle School in Mander Kalan was inaugurated (Rs 30 lakh), and a grant of Rs 4 lakh was provided for the SC Dharamshala. In Takipur, Rs 4 lakh was also provided for the construction of a room in the SC Dharamshala.
Additionally, a cheque of Rs 51,000 was presented to the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Club, Sahoke, for a tournament. Grants were also issued for various community facilities: Rs 3 lakh for flooring and doors at the Ravidas Dharamshala in Jharon; Rs 3.93 lakh for the Valmiki Dharamshala in Tolawal; and Rs 3.50 lakh for a shed and boundary wall at the Ravidas Dharamshala in Shahpur Kalan.
Aman Arora stated that the Punjab Government is committed to the holistic development of villages, with a focus on providing better road connectivity, education, and social infrastructure. He added that these projects will play a significant role in boosting the region’s economic growth and improving the quality of life of the people. Officials from various departments, dignitaries, AAP office bearers, and a large number of villagers were present on the occasion.
