Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce, Investment Promotion, Local Bodies and Power Sanjeev Arora today said that Punjab has witnessed the highest-ever investment in its history for the year 2025-26, with commitments worth more than Rs. 60,000 crore, reflecting the Punjab Government’s resolve to provide a conducive environment for industrial growth.

Speaking to the media after an interaction session with local industrialists in Jalandhar, the Minister said Punjab has emerged as one of the most preferred destinations for investors. He said that major industrial groups, including the JSW Group and the Mittal Group, have announced investments worth Rs. 3,000 crore and Rs. 2,600 crore respectively.

Mr. Arora announced that the Punjab Government will roll out a new industrial park policy within a month, under which large industrial parks spread across at least 25 acres will be developed in the state. He said industrialists and real estate developers will jointly participate in the development of these parks, while investors will get all necessary approvals simply by registering for investment in these projects.

Describing the policy as a game-changer, he said industries shifting to these new parks will receive major incentives. Existing industries adopting zero liquid discharge norms will be eligible for incentives up to Rs. 10 crore, while new industries will receive 100 per cent incentives. Likewise, industries setting up paddy straw boiler plants will receive incentives of up to Rs. 7.5 crore.

The Minister also said Punjab is set to take a major leap in green energy production. He stated that the Government has set a target of generating 85 per cent of its electricity from green sources such as solar energy and battery storage systems over the next five years.

He added that a comprehensive plan is being prepared to achieve this target and make Punjab a leading state in the use of clean energy. Mr. Arora further said that a new operation and maintenance policy has already been approved by the Cabinet, under which industrialists themselves will collect maintenance charges and use the funds for the upkeep of focal points and industrial hubs.

Responding to concerns over law and order, the Minister said that extortion calls are often attempts by miscreants to make easy money and urged industrialists to immediately report such cases to the police. He said Punjab’s law and order situation is better than 17 other states as per data earlier provided by Government of India in response to a parliamentary question asked by him and added that if there had been any serious law and order issue, the state would not have attracted such record investment.

Earlier, the Minister also met local industrialists, listened to their grievances and directed the concerned departments to resolve them on priority. He also held a meeting with the officials of the Industries Department, Local Bodies and Power Department.

Among those present on the occasion were Mayor Vineet Dhir, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, H S Brar MD Infotech and representatives of various industries.
