The District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) for Nutrition Procurement under ICDS (Poshan) today reviewed the implementation of the Supplementary Nutrition Programme here at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma.

The meeting assessed procurement, quality standards, distribution and monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely and nutritious food for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers through Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in the district. The Deputy Commissioner directed strict adherence to prescribed quality norms and regular field inspections of AWCs to verify food quality, hygiene and nutritional standards.

Stressing convergence, the DC said called for close coordination among ICDS, Health, Education and allied departments for effective service delivery. The Committee also reviewed its mandate and composition, reaffirming a multi-sectoral approach involving line departments and community representatives for strengthening nutrition governance.

Earlier, Programme Officer ICDS Mohammed Syed presented an overview of Poshan activities, including operational projects, functional AWCs and beneficiary coverage.   Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur; District Social Welfare Officer, CDPOs and other members of the Committee were present.
