In a significant administrative development at Guru Nanak Dev University, Prof. (Dr.) Ravinder Kumar, Professor and former Head, Department of Electronics Technology, has joined as Professor Incharge of Public Relations (PR). The joining ceremony took place in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) K.S. Chahal, former Professor Incharge Public Relations Prof. (Dr.) Vasudha Sambyal, Director Public Relations, Sh. Praveen Puri, Dr. R. S. Sawhney, Dr. Amandeep Singh, Dr Sunil, Dr. Parambir Singh Malhi, S. Parminder Singh OSD, Shri Hardeep Nagra, Rajinder Kumar, Mrs. Suman Raju and other senior university officials.

While assuming the new responsibility, Dr. Ravinder Kumar expressed his vision for the role. He stated that under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh, the university is scaling new heights of excellence. “We will work towards expressing these achievements to the media in a more efficient and effective manner,” he added.

Dr. Ravinder Kumar brings a rich academic and administrative background to this new role. He holds a B-Tech and M-Tech from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, and earned his Ph.D. from GNDU, Amritsar in 2017. 

With **24 years of teaching experience**, his areas of specialization include Nano-scale Devices and Sensors, Wireless Communication, and Digital Design. He has successfully guided **29 M-Tech dissertations** and **2 Ph.D. candidates**, with 2 more currently enrolled. 

Dr. Kumar has an impressive research portfolio, including **40 publications** in international SCI, Scopus, and UGC-indexed journals, **25 papers** in international conference proceedings, and **2 book chapters**. His work has garnered over **500 citations**, with an h-index of 9 and i10-index of 8.

He has received multiple **Best Paper Awards** at prestigious conferences, including ICANMEET-2013 at Sathyabama University, Chennai; IMRSE-2021 at NIT Jalandhar; and ICEEICT-2023 at K.R. College of Engineering, Trichy. He has also presented papers at renowned venues such as MRS Singapore, IIT Delhi, IIT Ropar, and NIT Jalandhar.

 Dr. Kumar has held several key administrative positions, including Director Events and Hospitality (from April 2024), Warden of University Boys Hostel, and member of various university boards like the Innovation and Development Board, Project Board Committee, and Research Degree Committee. He has actively contributed to the **National Education Policy (NEP-2020)** as a subject expert for translating engineering terminology and books from English to Punjabi in collaboration with CSTT (MHRD) and AICTE-IIT Mumbai. 

He has organized workshops, seminars, and webinars on NEP implementation and served as Deputy Coordinator for university admissions and observer for national exams like JEE, NEET, and UGC-NET. A life member of the Materials Research Society of India and Indian Society for Technical Education, Dr. Kumar has also reviewed projects for INSPIRE and journals from Elsevier, Nanoscience, and Springer. 

He has undergone advanced training in nanotechnology at IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore. The university community views this appointment as a strategic move, leveraging Dr. Kumar’s proven leadership, communication skills, and commitment to institutional growth to strengthen GNDU’s public relations, media engagement, and outreach activities.
