The two-day State Convention of the National Service Scheme (NSS) for Punjab and UT Chandigarh concluded on a high note at Chandigarh University with a grand valedictory ceremony. The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening youth engagement and community service. The convention brought together the State NSS Officers of Punjab and UT Chandigarh, Programme Coordinators, Programme Officers, NSS Awardees, volunteers, and officials from across the region.
It served as a vibrant platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices aimed at nation-building. Addressing the valedictory session, the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) R. S. Bawa, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chancellor of Chandigarh University, highlighted the crucial role of NSS in shaping responsible citizens.
He emphasized that NSS instills the values of selfless service, discipline, and social responsibility among youth. Appreciating the initiative of organizing a joint State Convention, he termed it a progressive step towards integrated development and stronger coordination between Punjab and UT Chandigarh.
He urged NSS volunteers to actively contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, stating that youth are the backbone of the nation. He also lauded the commitment of Programme Officers and Coordinators in expanding the outreach and impact of NSS activities.
Earlier, in the welcome address, the significance of NSS as a powerful platform for youth empowerment and nation-building was underscored. Gratitude was also expressed for the guidance and support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the NSS Directorate.
The convention featured insightful sessions, expert talks, group discussions, and presentations, enabling participants to review achievements, share innovative practices, and propose actionable recommendations to strengthen NSS at the grassroots level. Concluding the event, the Regional Director, NSS Regional Directorate Chandigarh, Jai Bhagwan, expressed satisfaction over the successful organization of the convention.
He noted that the two-day programme witnessed active participation, meaningful deliberations, and impactful outcomes, making it a highly productive and enriching experience for all stakeholders. he recommendations and suggestions emerging from the convention will be formally submitted to the NSS Directorate under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for further strengthening NSS initiatives across the region.
The convention concluded with a strong message of unity and reaffirmation of the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” reinforcing the spirit of selfless service and collective responsibility among the youth.
