Dr. Parvinder Singh, Incharge, Farm Advisory Service Center, Tarn Taran, of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, stated that progressive farmer S. Jarnail Singh from village Jagatpura of Tarn Taran district was honored with the Jathedar Gurditta Singh Mahal Memorial Award by the chief guest, Honorable S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab at the Kisan Mela held on March 24, 2026, at PAU–Regional Research Station, Bathinda. 

This honor was awarded to him for maintaining a progressive outlook by adopting innovation and agricultural diversification in the field of horticulture, particularly flower cultivation, while conserving natural resources. He also informed that on this occasion, Honorable worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education and Dr. Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana were present. 

All the officials present congratulated S. Jarnail Singh and appealed to other farmers to take inspiration from this progressive farmer. In addition to this, a progressive farmer S. Baljit Singh of village Mallah of district Tarn Taran won second prize in marigold flowers in produce competition during Kisan mela March 20-21, 2026 of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
