As many as 25 meritorious students studying in various government schools of the district have got an opportunity to visit the Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad, a premier centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). These students, studying in 7th, 9th, and 11th classes, include 15 girls and 10 boys.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal met these students today at the District Administrative Complex and motivated them to make the most of this golden opportunity. He said they should try to learn as much as possible from this visit, as it can be life-changing. He added that this visit will not only benefit their studies but also give a new direction to their future.

Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to provide world-class educational facilities to students under the ‘Sikhya Kranti’ initiative, Dr. Aggarwal said that such efforts will prove helpful in shaping a bright future for students. He added that visits to institutions like ISRO will increase students’ interest in science.

He further informed that for the selection of these students, quiz competitions were first conducted at the block level through the joint efforts of the district administration and ISRO. The winners at the block level then competed at the district level. The 25 students who emerged as winners at the district level have earned this opportunity to visit ISRO through their hard work and talent.

Expressing their happiness the students said they would try to learn as much as possible during the visit.
