District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda, Krishan Lal today chaired a meeting and training session at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, marking the commencement of a three-day training programme for District and Charge Level Officers in connection with the preparations for Census 2027.

The programme focused on Phase-I preparatory activities– the Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO) and to acquaint officers to their roles, responsibilities and operational procedures for the smooth conduct of the upcoming nationwide census exercise.

Additionally, detailed presentations were delivered highlighting the methodology, guidelines and administrative framework involved in the census operations. Through a PowerPoint presentation and an informative video, the officers were provided with an overview of the Census of India, its historical significance and its vital role in democratic governance and development planning.

The participants were also briefed about house-listing operations, housing data collection, use of digital platforms for data management and the need to ensure accuracy, transparency and confidentiality throughout the process. It was highlighted that reliable census data forms the backbone for policy formulation and effective implementation of the government welfare schemes.

Addressing the officers, the DDC emphasised that the census is one of the most important administrative exercises of the country and requires meticulous planning, inter-departmental coordination and well-trained field staff. He directed all departments to actively participate in the training sessions and ensure proper dissemination of guidelines to officials at the grassroots level.

He further noted that the District Informatics Officer, NIC Doda, will play a key role in facilitating the digital processes and technological support required for the census operations. During the training session, the operational framework and strategy for Census 2027 were explained in detail, including the principles and methodology to be adopted during the houselisting phase.

It was also highlighted that the last Census in India was conducted in 2011, making the upcoming exercise crucial for updating demographic and socio-economic data. The meeting was attended by ADC Bhaderwah Sunil Bhutyal, district officers, census experts, District Informatics Officer Doda, Tehsildars, representatives of the Municipal Council Doda and other concerned officials, while SDMs and several field officers joined the proceedings virtually. The District Administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring the smooth, transparent and efficient conduct of Census 2027 activities across District Doda.
