The Energy Management Cell (EMC) / State Designated Agency (SDA), Engineering Department, U.T. Chandigarh organized a Workshop and Exhibition on Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code, showcasing various energy-efficient building materials and technologies. The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Ms. Prerna Puri (IAS), Secretary, Engineering Department, Chandigarh Administration. 

In her address, she emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable construction practices and energy-efficient technologies in the building sector to reduce energy consumption and promote environmental sustainability. Er. C.B. Ojha, Chief Engineer, U.T. Chandigarh, was also present on the occasion. 

He highlighted that the Engineering Department, Chandigarh Administration is in the process of notifying the Energy Conservation & Sustainable Building Code, which will further strengthen the implementation of energy-efficient practices in the building sector. A technical session was conducted by Ar. Jit Kumar Gupta, who shared valuable insights on sustainable building design, energy-efficient construction techniques, and integration of energy conservation measures in modern buildings.

An exhibition of energy-efficient building materials and technologies was also organized during the event. Leading companies such as Johnson Tiles, UltraTech Cement, Mahaluxmi Bricks, LK Electrical, and Vinayak Industry showcased innovative products including cool roof tiles, heat-reflective paints, AAC blocks, and other energy-efficient construction materials.

Around 125 participants, including engineers, builders, architects, and students, attended the workshop and actively participated in discussions on energy conservation and sustainable construction practices. Er. Pawan Sharma, Head EMC/SDA, highlighted various energy efficiency initiatives being undertaken by the Engineering Department, Chandigarh Administration, including promotion of energy-efficient technologies, awareness programmes, and implementation of policies to encourage sustainable development.
