Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today came down like a hammer on the BJP, tearing into its record with a fiery rebuttal. Speaking to media persons and referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally, Warring said that BJP leaders from Delhi come to Punjab with the sole agenda of hurling abuses at the Congress.

From invoking L.K. Advani’s own words in My Country My Life to exposing the government’s failures on farmers, justice for 1984 victims and the drug menace, Warring accused the BJP of playing politics with wounds, religion, and caste. Warring said, “Do not scratch our wounds. My Country My Life is a book by L.K. Advani.

In that book, he wrote that we compelled the government of that time to attack the Akal Takht Sahib. That book is still available in the market. I would like BJP leaders to read it and give an explanation.”

He further said, “We may not have witnessed 1984 – we were only children then but we have seen the 1984-like situation you (BJP) created for the farmers at the borders, where 700 were killed and injured. Even after shooting them in the head, you did not allow an FIR to be registered.”

The PPCC President further took a dig at the BJP, saying, “You claim you will provide justice for 1984. You have been in power for 12 years—then deliver it. Compensation should have been given long ago, yet you still refuse. If the Prime Minister of the country will not provide compensation, then who will?”

Coming down heavily on the BJP, Warring said that the party talks about religious conversion, claiming that if their government comes to power they will address it. “But why do you persist in doing politics in the name of religion and caste?

If the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of this country have failed to stop religious conversions in the past 12 years, then when will you act?” On the issue of the rampant drug menace, Warring stated that while the State Chief Minister bears responsibility, the larger accountability lies with the BJP.

He pointed out that the party claims it will uproot drugs, yet drugs are their contribution, flowing unchecked through Punjab’s borders. “From Tarn Taran to Fazilka, weapons and narcotics are being smuggled in via drones and the Border Security Force – under the command of the Union government – has failed to stop it,” he said, adding that this negligence has worsened Punjab’s crisis and exposed the BJP’s hollow promises.

Warring emphasized that the BJP cannot deny its role in worsening Punjab’s situation. He remarked that everyone understands the BJP’s pattern: first you light the fire and then pretend to pour water. Taking a jibe at Union Home Minister, he said that the people of Punjab are fully aware of this politics, Amit Shah Ji and will not be misled by such tactics.

“People of Punjab understand this ‘fire-and-water politics’ and will not be misled by hollow promises,” he asserted. Referring to Sidhu Moosewala, the PPCC President said, “You (BJP) talk about justice? You have not even provided justice for Moosewala yet. The person who killed Sidhu Moosewala is sitting in your Sabarmati jail in Gujarat. He threatens his father even today, and you have made a law that he will stay in Gujarat.”

Prominent among present on this occasion include former Punjab Minister Rakesh Pandey, former MLAs Sanjay Talwar, Kuldeep Singh Vaid, Simranjit Singh Bains, former DCC Ludhiana (Urban) President Pawan Dewan and former Chairman Punjab Housefed K.K.Bawa
