Vancouver Lions beat Punjab Thunders 57-46 in a hotly-contested Wave World Kabbadi League (WKL) encounter at the Rajindra College Hockey Stadium here Sunday.The first quarter of the match started with Gagandeep Satti and Gagandeep Sapra giving Vancouver Lions the early lead.Vancouver Lions narrowly led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter.The second quarter of the match witnessed an energetic performance from the both the teams.Vancouver Lions were clinical on their raids, initially giving no chance to the opposition defenders.The Lions were much more disciplined while defending the raids by Punjab Thunder.

Sultan Singh of Punjab Thunder and Balwan Singh of Vancouver Lions were the star raiders of the second quarter, while Satnam Singh of Vancouver Lions and Sukhmanjeet Singh of Punjab Thunder were the best stoppers.By the end of the quarter, the Lions had stretched their lead to four points leading 28-24.Some more good raids saw Vancouver Lions open up a 41-35 lead but Punjab still managed to keep themselves in contention.Punjab Thunders were unable to contain the Vancouver Lions who were clinical and precise with their game plan.Balwan Singh was the star raider who maintained his 100 percent successful raids for the Lions in the match and was well supported by Sukhbir Singh at the end.The match ended with the Vancouver Lions taking an 11-point lead.
