Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today chaired the District Level Telecom Committee meeting to review the overall telecom service and signal scenario of district Ramban, aiming to ensure seamless and reliable connectivity across the district with special focus on remote areas and the National Highway.

The meeting was attended by SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, SDM Ramsoo Sayed Mazahir Hussain Shah, Divisional Engineer Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Luxmi Narayan Saini, Tehsildar Headquarters Reejuta Mahajan, Executive Engineers of PWD, Divisional Forest Officers and other concerned officers. Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars joined the meeting virtually.

During the review of ongoing works, the Deputy Commissioner directed BSNL and representatives of private telecom service providers, including Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, to comprehensively identify all telecom shadow areas in the district to ensure complete signal coverage, especially along the National Highway and other vulnerable or proposed locations.

They were asked to submit a detailed report by February 28. He further instructed that coverage areas of already installed towers be revisited to maximise outreach. Emphasising public convenience and safety, the Deputy Commissioner directed that all existing telecom towers must remain functional round the clock.

He stressed the need for adequate power backup arrangements at tower sites to ensure uninterrupted services, particularly during adverse weather conditions and natural calamities, so as to avoid communication lapses during emergencies.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed Tehsildars to submit revenue papers for land acquisition as per indents submitted by BSNL for the installation of new telecom towers to prevent delays in project execution.

SSP suggested several measures to further improve telecom connectivity and emphasised that all telecom towers, especially those installed at vulnerable locations, must remain operational 24x7 to support emergency response and security operations.
