Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij has taken serious cognizance of the case in which a young woman died after an e-rickshaw was hit by a car driven by allegedly intoxicated police personnel. He called the SP (Superintendent of Police) of Ambala and instructed that strict action be taken in the matter.

He said that if the investigation confirms that the police officer was driving under the influence, then strict action must be implemented against him. He added that the job of the police is to stop those who drive under the influence, whereas here a police officer himself was driving drunk and causing accidents.

Sh. Vij was redressing public grievances in Ambala today. Earlier, family members of the deceased young woman appeared before Minister Anil Vij and accused the police of taking a lax approach in the case.

The family alleged that no strong action was taken by the police, which allowed the accused police officer to secure bail the very next day. They claimed that since the accused is a police employee, concrete action has not been taken so far.

Minister Anil Vij assured the family that strict action would be taken in the matter. It is noteworthy that in Ambala Cantonment a few days ago, a drunk police officer rammed his car into an e-rickshaw, causing the 25-year-old woman riding in it to fall onto the road and be crushed under the car, leading to her death on the spot.

The accident occurred around 8:30 PM on Tuesday near GT Road. The woman worked at a private company in Gurugram and was traveling from Delhi to Ambala to meet her family. Her brother was also riding in the e-rickshaw at the time of the accident.

Instructions given on these complaints

A woman from Sundar Nagar, Ambala, submitted a complaint to Energy Minister Anil Vij alleging that she had sold her plot to a man who paid part of the amount but has not paid the remaining Rs. 2.80 lakh. In this matter, Minister Anil Vij directed the Padav police station to take action.

A young man from Boh filed a complaint stating that an agent had promised to send him to Europe and claimed he could arrange visas for three European countries. In return, the young man paid approximately Rs. 6 lakh to the agent.

However, neither was he sent to Europe nor was any visa arranged. He stated that the agent refunded some money, but Rs. 4.86 lakh is still unpaid. Minister Anil Vij directed the police to take action in the matter.

Additionally, complaints were received from a resident of Dalipgarh alleging fraud of Rs. 9.50 lakh in the name of arranging a bank loan, and from a woman from Kachha Bazaar regarding an excessively high electricity bill, among other issues. Minister Anil Vij instructed the concerned officials to take appropriate action in these matters.
