Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh has achieved yet another significant milestone as a team of its B.Tech students secured 1st position at the DataForge Hackathon, held during the annual E-Summit of IIT Roorkee this past weekend.

The DataForge Hackathon was a 24-hour non-stop coding competition focused on addressing real-world, enterprise-level Artificial Intelligence challenges. The event saw participation from leading institutions across the country, making the achievement particularly noteworthy.

The winning PEC team worked on two major problem statements. The first, “Hallucination Hunter,” involved developing an AI-based tool to identify and mitigate hallucination errors in large language models such as ChatGPT. The second challenge, “Intelligent Data Migration,” focused on designing a smart and secure system to assist enterprises in seamlessly migrating data between databases with improved safety and efficiency.

The team comprised Aditya Gupta, Aryan Singh, Siddharth Mohta, and Kavya Arora, all 1st year B.Tech students of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) discipline at Punjab Engineering College. The students extended their sincere gratitude to Director, PEC, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, and Shri Sanjeev Sofat, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, for their continuous guidance, encouragement, and support.

They acknowledged that the motivation to upskill and innovate played a crucial role throughout their journey. This achievement underscores PEC’s strong focus on innovation, experiential learning, and exposure to emerging technologies, further strengthening its standing among premier technical institutions in the country.
