World Unani Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and academic fervour at Women’s Degree College, Baramulla. The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa. The event was organized to commemorate the rich legacy and contemporary relevance of the Unani system of medicine.

This year’s theme, “Evidence Based & Innovations in Unani Medicine,” underscored the importance of scientific validation, research integration, and technological advancements in strengthening the classical foundations of Unani medicine. The theme highlighted the need to bridge traditional wisdom with modern scientific methodologies to enhance global acceptance and expand its impact in the healthcare sector.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of promoting traditional systems of medicine alongside modern healthcare practices. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers in creating awareness about the scientific and research-oriented dimensions of Unani medicine.

He stressed that evidence-based approaches and innovation are essential to ensuring credibility, wider recognition, and integration of Unani medicine into mainstream healthcare. Encouraging students, he urged them to actively engage in research and skill development so as to contribute meaningfully to the evolving healthcare landscape.

A scientific session formed a key highlight of the programme, featuring insightful lectures and presentations by experts in the field. The deliberations focused on recent research developments, clinical evidence, innovative therapeutic approaches, and the future prospects of Unani medicine within integrative healthcare frameworks.

Students and faculty members participated actively, making the session intellectually enriching and inspiring. The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony to honour distinguished guests, experts, and contributors for their valuable participation and support in making the event a success.
