District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today visited Rajal area of Nowshera to assess the damage caused to residential houses and standing crops following the collapse of a retaining wall of the Canal Road. During the on-spot inspection, the DDC interacted with the affected families and took stock of the extent of damage. 

He directed the concerned departments to immediately prepare a detailed assessment report of damages to houses, agricultural land and crops so that appropriate relief and compensation measures can be initiated at the earliest. Taking serious note of the incident, the DDC ordered a thorough enquiry to ascertain the actual cause behind the failure of the retaining wall, water breach of canal and to fix responsibility for any negligence or lapses. 

He emphasized that such incidents not only lead to financial losses but also pose a serious threat to life and property and therefore accountability must be ensured. The DDC also directed the executing and engineering agencies to take immediate preventive and remedial measures to stabilize the site and prevent any further damage.

ADC Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thapa, Tehsildar Nowshera, Rampaul along with other district and sectoral officers, accompanied the DDC during the visit and briefed him about the ground situation and the steps being taken to address the issue.
