India will host the first major global energy event of the year as India Energy Week 2026 is held from January 27–30 in Goa, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, global CEOs and technology providers at a critical juncture for the international energy sector. The four-day event will be held at ONGC’s Advanced Training Institute (ATI), Goa.
Addressing the curtain-raiser press conference on Friday, Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, said India Energy Week 2026 will mark the opening of the global energy calendar. “India Energy Week 2026 will be the first major global energy event of the year, bringing together ministers, industry leaders and policymakers from across the world,” the minister said.
The event will focus on energy security, sustainability and investment pathways, reflecting India’s expanding engagement with global energy stakeholders amid evolving transition priorities. India Energy Week 2026 continues its strong year-on-year growth, with over 75,000 participants, 600+ exhibitors and more than 500 speakers expected. International participation has expanded significantly, with 180 overseas exhibitors and 11 country pavilions, highlighting growing global interest in India’s energy market and policy framework.
From its inaugural edition in 2023, which witnessed participation of around 30,000 delegates, the event has more than doubled in scale within four years. The number of conference sessions has increased to over 120, while thematic pavilions have expanded to 11, underscoring the event’s growing relevance and stature.
High-level ministerial participation will remain a key highlight, with 17 Ministers and Deputy Ministers confirmed from countries including the UAE, Canada, the Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Trinidad & Tobago. Multilateral organisations such as the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC and the Eurasian Economic Union will also be represented.
The exhibition will be organised across 11 thematic zones, each hosted by a leading PSU, covering areas such as Digitalisation and AI, Hydrogen, Renewables, Petrochemicals, Biofuels, LNG, City Gas Distribution, Make in India and the India Net-Zero Zone. New additions this year include a Nuclear Energy Zone, developed in collaboration with the World Nuclear Association, and a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Zone hosted by IndianOil.
A dedicated Make in India and Indigenisation Pavilion, led by Engineers India Limited, will promote collaboration with MSMEs, startups and domestic vendors, aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The conference programme will feature four ministerial sessions, including the inaugural ministerial, along with 47 leadership and spotlight discussions and curated one-on-one Energy Talks, addressing key themes aligned with global and national energy priorities.
The minister said India Energy Week has emerged as an important platform for global engagement. “India Energy Week has become a significant forum for discussions on energy security, sustainability and investments, reflecting India’s expanding engagement with global energy stakeholders,” he said.
India Energy Week 2026 will also provide a platform for commercial engagement and business outcomes. Agreements expected to be highlighted include shipbuilding contracts involving Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Samsung Heavy Industries; a US$780 million crude oil supply agreement between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Petrobras; and multiple MoUs involving TotalEnergies, Shell, Oil India and Numaligarh Refinery Limited, including collaboration on a 200 KTPA Sustainable Aviation Fuel project in Odisha.
High-level side events will include the 9th Prime Minister’s Roundtable with global CEOs, the India–Arab Energy Dialogue, and bilateral roundtables with Japan, Iceland and the Netherlands, along with interactions involving U.S. industry bodies. Innovation and startups will remain a focus through initiatives such as Avinya 2026, Vasudha 3.0 and the Hackathon Challenge 2026, with participation from seven IITs addressing challenges across the energy value chain.
Knowledge releases during the event will include a Global Biofuels Alliance white paper on biofuels financing and the joint release of the “India Bioenergy Outlook 2030” by the International Energy Agency and the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. With its expanding scale, international participation and focus on engagement and outcomes, India Energy Week 2026 is set to reinforce India’s position as a key platform for global energy dialogue, cooperation and investment.
