As part of the second phase of the nationwide celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’, a patriotic Vande Mataram Torch Rally was organised in Ganderbal, evoking a spirit of unity, patriotism and national pride.
The vibrant mega torch rally was led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, from the Mini-Secretariat Ganderbal. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from youth and citizens of District Ganderbal. The ceremonial torch was lit by the Deputy Commissioner, symbolising the eternal flame of patriotism, unity and service to nation.
The rally passed through the main market Duderhama and culminated at Clock Tower Ganderbal. Prior to the rally, participants took part in mass singing of the National Song. Additional District Development Commissioner, Manzoor Ahmed, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Faheem Bihaqi, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Panchaya, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DAR), CEO, Municipal Council Ganderbal, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, and other district officers and officials along with local citizens and youth participated with great zeal, raising patriotic slogans and singing ‘Vande Mataram’ throughout the rally.
Addressing the gathering after the culmination of the rally, DC said that during the second phase of the 150th anniversary celebrations of ‘Vande Mataram’, and in the run-up to Republic Day, several patriotic and cultural events have been organised across the district.
He added that today’s Mega Torch Rally forms an important part of the ongoing celebration of 150 years of Vande Mataram to highlight the historical significance and enduring legacy of ‘Vande Mataram’.
