Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the implementation of various initiatives under the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) ‘UMEED’ in the district.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, District Coordinator JKRLM, Block Managers and MIS functionaries. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress achieved under JKRLM with particular focus on the functioning of Self Help Groups (SHGs), financial inclusion and social security coverage of registered members.

Emphasizing timely achievement of all prescribed targets, the DC directed officers to adopt outcome-based monitoring and ensure effective implementation at the grassroots level. It was informed that across 11 CD Blocks, JKRLM has covered 142 Panchayats and 126 villages, benefiting 27,427 households.

A total of 3,396 SHGs have been formed, along with 245 Village Organizations and 20 Cluster Level Federations. It was further informed that SHG savings have reached ₹648.39 lakh, while 2,292 SHGs have received ₹343.80 lakh as Revolving Fund and 1,400 SHGs have been provided ₹910 lakh under Community Investment Fund (CIF).

The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure 100 percent achievement in bank linkages, SHG formation, household coverage, Lakhpati Didi initiatives, women farmers’ training in agro-ecological practices, Integrated Farming cluster, agri-nutri gardens, producer groups and establishment of custom hiring centres and other related initiatives.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed to ensure that all SHG members in the district are covered under key insurance schemes, especially the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), within the stipulated timeframe.

He also directed field functionaries to intensify awareness about the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and encourage SHG members to enroll for long-term social security benefits. Reiterating the objective of empowering rural women and strengthening livelihoods through JKRLM, the DC impressed upon the JKRLM team Ramban to work with dedication and ensure that every eligible beneficiary is brought under the ambit of financial inclusion and social protection schemes. He also sought regular progress reports and strict adherence to timelines.
