SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal provided information stating that the district police, while taking action against anti-social elements, has solved a blind murder case that occurred a few days ago in Lehragaga by arresting three accused and recovering silver and artificial jewellery. SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal stated that in the intervening night of January 2-3, 2026, three unidentified persons entered the house of Krishan Kumar alias Neeta, son of Jagdish Rai, resident of Lehra, with the intention of committing robbery.

The unidentified accused looted approximately ₹15,000 in cash and some items from the house. During the incident, Krishan Kumar alias Neeta sustained injuries that resulted in his death.

On the statement of the deceased's relative, Jatinder Kumar alias Kaka, son of Madan Lal, resident of Ward No. 07, Tohana (Haryana), a case No. 03 dated 03.01.2026 under Sections 103(1), 3(5) of the BNS (equivalent to 302, 34 IPC) was registered against three unknown persons at Lehra Police Station, and investigation was initiated.

The investigation was conducted under the leadership of Davinder Atri, Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Sangrur, with supervision by Daljit Singh Virk, DSP (Detective), Sangrur, and Ranbir Singh, DSP, Sub-Division Lehra. Various teams, including the in-charge CIA and SHO Lehra Police Station, carried out technical investigation and solved the case on January 6, 2026.

The accused Akashdeep Sharma (23) alias Lucky, son of Tinku Sharma son of Ruldu Ram, resident of Lehra; Manpreet Singh (25) alias Biru, son of Pappu Singh alias Raju son of Sohan Lal, resident of Khai Basti, Lehra; and Sunny Kumar (21) alias Mangal, son of Rajinder Kumar son of Ram Kumar, resident of Lehra were arrested. Sections 331(8), 309(4) of the BNS (equivalent to 460, 392 IPC) were added to the case.

He further said that at first glance, the case appears related to mutual monetary transactions. Except for Manpreet Singh, the other two accused are habitual criminals. While committing the robbery, they murdered Krishan Kumar. Interrogation of the accused is ongoing, and more important revelations are expected.
