Mohali Police has achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two Nepalese nationals and recovering 9 kilograms of charas from their possession.Divulging the details, SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans stated that under the supervision of SP (Rural) Manpreet Singh and DSP (Officiating Charge) Naveenpal Singh Lehal, a police team from Police Station Lalru, led by SHO Ranbir Singh Sandhu, conducted a successful operation.

He informed that during a patrolling and search operation aimed at checking suspicious elements, a man and a woman were noticed alighting from a bus and attempting to flee with heavy backpacks around 3:20 PM near Jharmadi Barrier on December 26, 2025. The police team swiftly apprehended both suspects.

Upon frisking, 5 kilograms of charas was recovered from the male accused, while 4 kilograms of charas was recovered from the female accompanying him.During preliminary questioning, the accused were identified as Bajbir Budha, son of Bhagat Bahadur Budha, resident of village Kayia, Police Station Bagane, District Pithna, Nepal, and Jyoti Budha Magar, wife of Narayan Budha Magar, resident of village Sadwaria, Police Station Dang, Nepal.An FIR No. 217 dated 26.12.2025 under Sections 20, 29, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against both accused at Police Station Lalru.

Both accused were produced before the court and have been remanded to police custody. A thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the source and network involved in this drug trafficking case.
