Punjab State & Chandigarh UT Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) Member Jitender Singh Shunty (Padma Shri awardee) conducted a comprehensive inspection of district Jail evaluating facilities for inmates and undertrials. Commision member Shunty thoroughly examined the barracks, kitchen, food services, toilets, sanitation, and other amenities.
He also tasted the food of the kitchen and talked with the inmates. He stressed the need for maintaining high standards of hygiene, particularly in the kitchen, where he personally assessed the quality and cleanliness of meals provided to prisoners.
In a meeting with jail authorities, Member Shunty reviewed administrative procedures and issued directives to streamline processes. He also enquired about the overall health and well-being of the inmates.
He also interacted with inmates playing foodball.
