In a significant boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab, several senior leaders and workers from the Indian National Congress joined the BJP today at the Punjab BJP Headquarters in Chandigarh. The leaders were formally inducted into the party in the presence of the State Working President BJP Punjab Ashwani Sharma, and senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia, former Cabinet Minister.

Welcoming the new entrants, the BJP leadership said that the growing faith of leaders and grassroots workers in the policies, ideology, and leadership of the BJP reflects the party’s rising strength and acceptance across Punjab. The leaders who joined the BJP include Ashwani Kumar Sharma  National Vice-President, INTUC; former Chairman, Punjab Labour & Employment Cell, Congress; former President, Punjab INTUC;

Moti Lal Dhamaka – Former MLA Candidate (1991); former Councillor Candidate (2002); Vice-President, Punjab INTUC; Anil Kumar Raja – Block President, Youth Congress, Chheharta; Pt. Prince Dhami – President, Punjab Brahmin Manch; Mattu Kohli (Jalandhar) – Former Congress worker; Avtar Singh – Ex-serviceman; Ankur Sharma ; Ajaypal Singh ;Nitish Mahajan – Advocate; Rahul Ghanotra; Rahul Sharma; Anmol Bajaj.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Sharma said that the continued exodus from Congress clearly shows the disillusionment with its leadership and policies, while the BJP, under its principle of nation-first governance, continues to attract committed and capable individuals.

The newly inducted leaders expressed confidence in the BJP’s vision and stated that they would work collectively to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and serve the people of Punjab with dedication.
