Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, said that ‘Vande Mataram’ is deeply connected with the emotions of millions of people, and millions have sacrificed their lives while chanting ‘Vande Mataram’.” He said that the struggle for the country’s independence was fought by the people of India, and “we too are the people of this nation.”

Sh. Vij was speaking during the ongoing discussion on the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ in the Winter Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. Targeting the opposition, Sh. Vij said that ‘Vande Mataram’ was never given the place it deserved. He alleged that at the insistence of Jinnah, the Congress “cut off two parts” of ‘Vande Mataram’, whereas no one has ever altered the Gita, Ramayana, or the Quran.

He said that “we salute Vande Mataram, bow before it, and offer flowers to it,” but alleged that the opposition (Congress), by distorting ‘Vande Mataram’, laid the foundation for dividing the country because they bowed before a few people. Taking a sharp dig at the opposition, he said that the sanctity of ‘Vande Mataram’ was violated, and while certain viewpoints may have their own place, they should not have been linked with ‘Vande Mataram’.
