Member of Parliament from Amritsar, Mr. Gurjeet Singh Aujla, today met Hon’ble Railway Minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw and strongly raised several important and long-pending public demands related to Amritsar and Punjab. Submitting the demands in writing, MP Aujla said that these issues are not merely regional in nature but are linked to the long-standing aspirations of lakhs of passengers, students, traders and devotees.

MP Aujla demanded the introduction of a weekly Superfast AC Express train between Amritsar and Pune (Hadapsar). He stated that a large number of students, businesspersons, working professionals and devotees travel on this route, but in the absence of a direct train service, people are forced to face considerable inconvenience.

He also raised the issue of restoration of DMU train stoppages at Kotla Gujran and sought the introduction of a direct rail service from Kotla Gujran to Amritsar, so that passengers from rural and semi-urban areas can get improved rail connectivity.

Keeping in mind the convenience of devotees, MP Aujla further demanded the resumption of train stoppages at Sangharana Sahib, stating that it is a highly revered religious site for the Sikh community and is visited by a large number of devotees from across the country and abroad.

On the occasion of the 350th Shaheedi (martyrdom) year, MP Aujla also placed a historic and emotional demand to rename New Delhi Railway Station as ‘Hind Di Chadar – Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’. He said this would give permanent recognition to the supreme sacrifice made by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji for humanity and religious freedom.

MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that fulfillment of these demands would not only strengthen rail connectivity but would also provide a major boost to trade, employment, economic growth and religious tourism. He expressed hope that the Railway Ministry would take a positive and prompt decision on these important public issues.
