DIECAI–2025 Global Experts Highlight Future of Digital Innovation on Day 2 of the International Conference

The three-day International Conference on Digital Innovation in Electronics, Communication and Artificial Intelligence (DIECAI–2025) Day 2 was inaugurated today at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, with great academic enthusiasm and international participation. The conference is being organized by the Department of Electronics Technology under the aegis of RUSA 2.0, Government of India.

The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Chahal, Registrar, GNDU Amritsar, who formally inaugurated the conference along with the Chief Guest Prof. N.C. Shivaprakash, Professor (Rtd.), Department of Instrumentation and Applied Physics, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and Guests of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Jyoteesh Malhotra, Dean Research and Professor, Dept. of ECE, NIT Delhi, Prof. Sandeep Singh Gill, Professor, Dept. of Information Management and Emerging Engineering, NITTTR, Chandigarh, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Mann, Chief Services Officer, Teleworld Solutions, Chantilly, Virginia, USA, Mr. Ranjit Singh, Area Head, Cyber Security Department, Honeywell, Melbourne, Australia.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Chahal, in his presidential address, emphasized GNDU’s strong commitment to research excellence, innovation, and ethical technology development. He highlighted that platforms like DIECAI–2025 are vital for aligning cutting-edge research with societal needs and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In his keynote address, Prof. N.C. Shivaprakash shared deep insights into the evolution of semiconductor memory technologies, innovation ecosystems, and future challenges in microelectronics. Drawing from his global experience and record number of patents, he inspired young researchers to pursue impactful, industry-relevant research.

Prof. (Dr.) Jyoteesh Malhotra spoke about India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor ecosystem and the strategic role of SCL, Mohali, in strengthening indigenous chip manufacturing under national initiatives such as Atmanirbhar Bharat. He stressed the importance of academia–industry collaboration in semiconductor research and fabrication.

Highlighting innovation-led growth, Prof. Sandeep Singh Gill, Professor discussed NXP Semiconductors’ role in nurturing India’s innovation ecosystem through academic partnerships, startup engagement, and skill development in advanced semiconductor and embedded systems technologies. Earlier, Prof. Ravinder Kumar, Convener of DIECAI–2025 and Head, Department of Electronics Technology, welcomed the dignitaries and presented an overview of the conference. 

He shared that DIECAI–2025 received 238 research paper submissions, out of which 108 papers were accepted, with 95 registered authors representing institutions from across India and countries including Russia, Turkey, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. A major attraction of DIECAI–2025 is the Technical Exhibition, running alongside the conference, showcasing state-of-the-art technologies and innovations. Leading industry partners such as Scientech Technologies, Rigol, Hioki, Amigos Technologies, EG Power, VMM Amritsar, and other technology firms are exhibiting advanced instruments and solutions. 

The exhibition also features the “I Am Engineer” student innovation competition, where university students are presenting hardware and software projects, highlighting grassroots innovation and entrepreneurial talent. The inaugural session of Day 2 witnessed the presence of senior faculty members including Prof. Ravinder Singh Sawhney, Prof. Shalini Bahel, and Prof. Maninder Lal Singh, who actively contributed to the successful conduct of the event.

The conference will continue until December 20, 2025, featuring keynote lectures, technical sessions, workshops, student competitions, and networking activities, firmly positioning GNDU as an emerging hub of global research discourse in Electronics, Communication, and Artificial Intelligence.
