In a major breakthrough in the brutal murder case of noted Kabaddi promoter Kunwar Digvijay Singh alias Rana Balachauria, Mohali Police have identified the assailants involved in the crime and launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend them, disclosed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Harmandeep Singh Hans, here today.

Sharing details, SSP Hans stated that the shooters have been identified as Aditya Kapur alias Makhan and Karan Pathak alias Defaulter Karan. Preliminary investigation has revealed that both accused are linked to the Donny Bal and Lucky Patial gangs. He added that the motive behind the murder appears to be the assertion of dominance in Kabaddi tournaments.

The SSP further informed that twelve special police teams have been constituted and dispatched to various locations to trace and arrest the accused at the earliest. Categorically refuting claims circulating on social media, SSP Hans stated that the murder is not linked to any act of revenge related to the Sidhu Moosewala case.

He emphasised that the primary motive, as indicated by initial findings, revolves around control and dominance over Kabaddi events by rival gangs. Providing background on the accused, SSP Hans said that Aditya Kapur is involved in as many as 13 FIRs registered at different police stations, while Karan Pathak is named in two FIRs.

The SSP also clarified that the tournament organising committee had obtained all requisite permissions to conduct the Kabaddi tournament. The incident occurred after the match of the team sponsored by Rana Balachauria had concluded and the victim was exiting the venue.

Reiterating the commitment of the police force, SSP Hans stated that Punjab Police, under the leadership of Director General of Police Mr. Gaurav Yadav, is fully capable of curbing such criminal activities, and sustained efforts are being made to ensure the swift arrest of the accused.
