Marking Armed Forces Flag Day and remembering the supreme sacrifices made by our soldiers in the defence of the nation, the formal launch of the Flag Day Fund collection was initiated today by pinning a token flag on Deputy Commissioner Ms. Komal Mittal. Speaking on the occasion, she said that this day is observed to express solidarity with the families of soldiers who laid down their lives in various wars and military operations, as well as with the ex-servicemen who were injured in the line of duty.
She added that people contribute generously as a tribute to the courage and valour of these soldiers, and the collected funds are utilized for the welfare of the families of martyrs. Appealing for maximum contributions to this noble cause, she stated that the fund supports the welfare of the families of martyrs and soldiers who have become physically disabled.
She urged the general public, especially industrial units and government officials, to whole-heartedly contribute to the Flag Day Fund. After the formal commencement of the fund collection by the Deputy Commissioner, token flags were also pinned on other officers stationed at the District Administrative Complex, including DIG Nanak Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, and District Treasury Officer Harminder Singh Hundal. They too contributed generously to the Flag Day Fund.
Group Captain Davinder Singh Dhillon (Retd.), District Defence Services Welfare Officer, SAS Nagar accompanied by Superintendent Randhir Singh, Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur, Ms. Surinder Kaur, Jaswinder Singh, and the entire staff of the District Defence Services Welfare Office pinned token flags on the general public, who also donated wholeheartedly.
They informed that the fund collection campaign will continue in the coming days, and any individual can contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.
