Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Haryana, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal has directed district administrations and health officers across the state to work in close coordination and make concerted efforts to raise the sex ratio to 920  this year. Taking strict action, he ordered the suspension of two health officers for negligence in achieving the expected improvement in their districts.

Additional Chief Secretary, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal, chaired the meeting of the "State Task Force" on improving the sex ratio in the state via video conferencing today. During the meeting, he interacted with the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of the four low–sex ratio districts—Charkhi Dadri, Sirsa, Palwal, and Yamunanagar.

He directed them to work jointly with Civil Surgeons and take active measures to improve the sex ratio. He also directed the Deputy Commissioners of these districts to conduct reverse tracking of illegal abortion cases and to closely monitor such cases. Health Department officers informed the Additional Chief Secretary that from January 1 to November 24, 2025, the state’s sex ratio has been recorded at 914, compared to 905 during the same period last year.

Sh. Rajpal encouraged municipal bodies to work with the Health Department to ensure the registration of all newborns in urban slum areas and to improve the state's performance in sex ratio indicators. He also issued directions for strict monitoring and action in cases related to sex determination and illegal abortions.

Taking a serious view of falling numbers, Sh.Sudhir Rajpal ordered the suspension of the Medical Officer of PHC Jottanwali in Sirsa and the SMO of Halalpur in Sonipat for negligence resulting in a decline in sex-ratio figures. He further directed that an MIS portal be developed to maintain court-case records related to PNDT matters. Considering the low conviction rate in PNDT cases, it was decided to explore the possibility of appointing or engaging a few lawyers at the state headquarters to actively pursue court cases.

He also directed all Civil Surgeons to prepare and submit to the headquarters a line-list report of all clinics, nursing homes, and hospitals run or managed by BAMS/GAMS/BHMS practitioners in their respective districts. Director General, Health Services, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Virender Yadav, Dr. Mukta Kumar along with other senior officers also attended the meeting.
