Grooving to the dhol beats while performing the high-spirited bhangra and giddha, the participating students won a huge applause from the spectators during the colourful culmination of the Inter-College Youth Festival 2025-26 at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Monday evening, today. Besides, lammi hek wale geet and folk song events set a vocal and emotional chord with the audience during the morning session. 

Additionally, mimicry and skit events, showcasing the theatrical skills and providing a peek into the plethora of societal issues, also kept the audience spellbound and dominated the day.  The chief guest Sardar Harpal Singh Cheema, Finance Minister of Punjab, while praising the Gen Z for their par excellence performance in the youth festival, urged them, “Do not run away from challenges, which once navigated with sheer determination catapult the human beings to great heights.”  

Admiring the jubilant and buoyant moods of the youths, the Minister assured full support to the PAU and its student fraternity in the years to come. Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, in his address, said, “The outpouring of distinctive aptitude by the youths in the beeline of the cultural, art, music, dance, theatre and literary events is a testimony to their indomitable courage - ‘never give-up spirits,’ thus, bringing out the best in them and setting pace for the future progress in their particular domains.”

Earlier, in the morning session, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Uppal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), lauded an excellent display of the vocal skills in music items, surcharging the entire atmosphere with radiance and reliving the forgotten moments of the glorious culture of Punjab.

A noted Punjabi singer Hardeep Singh also mesmerized the audience with his popular numbers.  

Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, in his remarks, expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries for their benign presence, unceasing cooperation of the faculty and staff for the successful conduct of the youth festival, and students for maintaining discipline and strictly adhering to rules as well as regulations, set by  the PAU youth fest committee.

Mr Satvir Singh, Registering Officer, informed that the prize distribution ceremony will be held late in the evening after bhangra and giddha items.

Results

Gurveer Kaur (Agri-Engineering), Jaskeerat Singh (Community Science) and Pushpinder Kaur (Agriculture- Ballowal Saunkhri-BS) bagged the top three positions in light vocal solo.

The Colleges of Agriculture, Horticulture and Community Science clinched the top three prizes in group song, while, Colleges of Community Science, Agriculture –BS and Agricultural Engineering earned the top three spots in duet song.

The Colleges of Community Science, Agri-Engineering and Agriculture won the top three prizes in western group song.

The Colleges of Horticulture, Community Science and Basic Sciences got the first three positions in choreography, whereas the Colleges of Agriculture, Community Science, and Agri-Engineering stood first, second and third in group folk song. Harpreet Kaur and Vishal Sood were adjudged as the best female and male folk dancers, respectively.

The Colleges of Agriculture, Community Science, and Agriculture-BS clinched the top three positions in one act play. Meenal Goyal and Sanchit Bhoomra were adjudged as the best female and male actors, respectively.

The Colleges of Agriculture- Ludhiana, Agriculture-BS and Community Science, secured the first, second and the third positions in mime and bhand.

The Colleges of Agri-Engineering, Community Science, and Agriculture won the top three prizes in mono acting.

The Colleges of Horticulture; Agriculture and Basic Sciences (bracketed); and Agri-Engineering got the first three positions in quiz.
