Continuing the series of activities commemorating 150 years of the iconic patriotic song “Vande Mataram”, the District Administration Budgam today organized a special seminar and felicitation programme at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex Budgam.

The event was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat. Besides ADC Budgam, CPO Budgam , senior officers of district administration, faculty members of all colleges of Budgam, students from various colleges, students and representatives from educational institutions of District Budgam were present.

As part of the programme, a documentary film on the history and significance of “Vande Mataram” was screened, depicting the origin of the song, its deep patriotic essence, and its role in India’s freedom movement. The audience also viewed a video presentation showcasing the series of events and activities organized across District Budgam under the year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram.”

Speaking on the occasion, DC Budgam highlighted the timeless relevance of “Vande Mataram” as a song that not only inspired the freedom struggle but continues to bind citizens in unity, harmony, and national pride. He said that such programmes are aimed at instilling a sense of belonging and patriotism among youth, while also encouraging them to understand and celebrate India’s cultural and historical legacy.

On this occasion, DC Budgam felicitated the winning students of various colleges who secured first, second, and third positions in painting, essay writing, singing, and debate competitions organized as part of the celebration series. The DC appreciated the creativity and enthusiasm of students and lauded the efforts of teachers and coordinators who guided and encouraged them to participate. 

The DC said that the District Administration Budgam will continue organizing such educational and cultural events throughout the year, ensuring that the message of “Vande Mataram” unity, devotion, and love for the motherland resonates across all sections of society.

The seminar showcases the collective spirit of respect and gratitude toward India’s rich patriotic heritage with a renewed pledge by all participants to uphold the values of national integrity.
