In a significant step towards ensuring governance at the doorstep, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today presided over a weekly Block Diwas programme at Town Hall Tangmarg. The event, held as part of the government’s ongoing public outreach and grievance redressal initiative, witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, PRI members, and officers from various line departments.

During the event, the DC listened to public grievances and demands pertaining to civic amenities, road connectivity, healthcare, and welfare schemes. He gave on-spot directions to the concerned officers for prompt redressal of genuine issues and assured the gathering that all departments are working in coordination to improve service delivery at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the occasion, Minga Sherpa said that the Block Diwas platform serves as a vital bridge between the administration and the people, allowing citizens to directly communicate their concerns and feedback. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparent, accountable, and responsive governance, emphasizing that every effort is being made to reach out to even the remotest corners of the district.

Earlier, the DC inspected departmental stalls set up by various government departments, showcasing their welfare schemes, ongoing projects, and public service initiatives. He appreciated the officers for raising awareness among citizens about beneficiary-oriented programmes.

On the occasion, the DC distributed sanction letters for sheep units among eligible beneficiaries under the Sheep Husbandry Department, encouraging youth to take up self-employment and livelihood generation activities.

As part of the green initiative, the DC also planted a sapling in the premises of Town Hall Tangmarg, underscoring the administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community participation. Officers from various departments, public representatives, and a large number of locals were present on the occasion.
