Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar, Sh. Harmandeep Singh Hans, IPS, informed that today morning, gangster Ranveer Singh, wanted in multiple criminal cases, was apprehended by the CIA Mohali team following an exchange of fire during a brief encounter. The accused, who had been absconding, was intercepted while fleeing on a Platina motorcycle used in the Chandigarh firing incident.

When asked to surrender, he opened fire on the police party, leading to a brief exchange of fire, during which he sustained a bullet injury in his leg. The injured accused has been shifted to hospital for treatment. A .32 bore pistol used by him in the firing has been recovered, and a fresh FIR is being registered against him for firing upon the police.

The SSP stated that earlier, on the basis of secret information, FIR No. 402 dated 09.11.2025 u/s 111(3), 111(4), 308(2), 351 BNS and 25-54-59 Arms Act was registered at Police Station City Kharar against three accused — Arshjot Singh s/o Harwinder Singh r/o Village Ballomajra, Ranveer Singh s/o Dharam Singh r/o Village Guno Majra, and Jashanjit Singh s/o Gaganjeet Singh r/o Kharar.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused had fired gunshots at the residence of Manpreet Singh in Sector 39, Chandigarh, on November 4, after making extortion calls to him. Manpreet Singh, who owns Hotel Regenta in TDI City, Mohali, had earlier lodged a complaint, following which FIR No. 134 dated 05.11.2025 u/s 109, 308(4), 351(2) BNS and 25 Arms Act, PS Sector 39, Chandigarh was registered.

The accused are associated with the Lucky Patial and Davinder Bambiha gangs. Two of them — Arshjot Singh and Jashanjit Singh — were arrested yesterday, and from their possession, one .30 bore pistol (used in the Chandigarh firing) and three live cartridges were recovered. SSP Hans further informed that all three accused are habitual offenders with multiple criminal cases registered against them across Punjab.

Arshjot Singh is involved in three cases — FIR No. 272/21 u/s 307,387 IPC & 25 Arms Act PS Sohana; FIR No. 68/24 u/s 307/34 IPC & 25 Arms Act PS Sohana; and FIR No. 6/24 u/s 384 IPC & 25 Arms Act PS SSOC.

Jashanjit Singh has two cases — FIR No. 19/25 u/s 25 Arms Act PS Sadar Kotakpura and FIR No. 17/25 u/s 25 Arms Act PS Beas.

Ranveer Singh is wanted in three cases — FIR No. 17/20 u/s 188,269,270 IPC Block Majri; FIR No. 68/24 u/s 307 IPC & 25 Arms Act PS Sohana; and FIR No. 6/24 u/s 384 IPC & 25 Arms Act PS SSOC Mohali.

SSP Hans reaffirmed that Mohali Police is fully committed to taking firm action against gangsters and extortion rackets operating in the region and will ensure that law and order and the safety of citizens are maintained at all costs.
