In a significant push towards strengthening digital governance and administrative excellence, the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Punjab, organized a three-day Training-cum-Workshop for all NIC Officers, culminating in a Karmayogi iGOT session. The programme served as a platform to empower officers with emerging technologies, foster innovation-led governance and reinforce Punjab’s vision of becoming a fully digital and citizen-centric state.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. DK Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary, DGG&IT, observed that Punjab’s progress in digital transformation is creating a new benchmark in governance and service delivery across India. Lauding NIC Punjab for its vital role in shaping e-Governance across the State through flagship projects such as iHRMS and eOffice, he said NIC Punjab had become the digital backbone of the government’s operations, enabling efficient, transparent and responsive public service delivery. 

Stressing the importance of technology adoption, he urged officers to embrace Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Smart Systems to redefine administrative functioning and enhance citizen outreach. He said that NIC is consistently contributing to improving administrative efficiency and digital accessibility. He said that NIC Punjab’s innovative projects have bridged the gap between citizens and the government through modern digital interfaces and real-time service platforms.

The workshop, inaugurated under the chairmanship of Mr. Vivek Verma, DDG and State Informatics Officer (SIO), Punjab, was attended by officers from all 23 districts and the State Centre. In his welcome remarks, he spoke about the importance of skill enhancement and knowledge sharing to build future-ready governance systems. 

Mr. Vikram Jeet Grover, ASIO (State), briefed the participants on the objectives of the workshop and encouraged them to share innovative ideas to strengthen teamwork and learning. The sessions featured expert presentations by Intel on Artificial Intelligence, along with detailed technical discussions led by NIC Punjab’s divisional heads including Mr. Dharmesh Kumar, Mr. Anoop K. Jalali, Mr. Anil Palta and Ms. Usha Rai, who showcased the latest innovations in digital governance. 

Interactive talks by Prof. J.S. Sahambi from IIT Ropar and Dinesh Sharma, Scientist-F, provided deeper insights into Artificial Intelligence and the Right to Information Act. Sessions on administrative conduct, hardware management, and well-being were also part of the programme, adding depth to both professional and personal development.

The valedictory session saw an inspiring address by Mr. Vikram Jeet Grover, who commended all participants and organizers for their active involvement and dedication.
