The valedictory and convocation ceremony of the 24-week Certificate Course in Business Management, sponsored by the Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, New Delhi, was held today, October 17, 2025, at the Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Chandigarh, with great enthusiasm. This course was conducted for 19 officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force from May 5, 2025, to October 17, 2025.

The Chief Guest of the program was Brigadier Sudhir Malik, ADG, Directorate Zone West, Chandimandir. He was welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, with a bouquet and a memento. The Chief Guest first planted a sapling in the institute premises under the initiative "One Tree for Mother."

On this occasion, the attending officers shared their experiences and mentioned that the course provided them with in-depth understanding of business management, financial planning, marketing, supply chain management, and the cooperative institutional framework. This training prepares them for entrepreneurship, business management, leadership roles in the cooperative sector, and employment opportunities in the corporate world after their military service.

In his address, the Chief Guest Brigadier Sudhir Malik stated that the primary objective of DGR is to equip the ex-servicemen of the country with new life skills and managerial competencies so that they can continue to play an active role in nation-building even after retirement. DGR regularly organizes such training programs in collaboration with various prestigious management institutes across the country, enabling ex-servicemen to start their own enterprises, benefit from government schemes, and access better opportunities in the private sector.

Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Director of the Institute congratulated the participants and said that this training is not just a course but a strong step towards a new career. He encouraged all the officers to utilize their experience and knowledge for the benefit of society.

At the end of the program, the participants presented a memento to the Director as a token of gratitude. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
