Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today reviewed the ongoing strengthening and upgradation work of the Kharar–Landra road, being carried out by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and directed the officials to ensure completion of the project without any break.
She highlighted that the Kharar–Landra road serves as a vital parallel link to the Chandigarh–Kharar highway, providing connectivity to Ludhiana and Banur roads. The Deputy Commissioner assured NHAI that the Municipal Council, Kharar, would carry out regular de-watering operations to ensure uninterrupted progress of the work.
She further stated that the project would also help in resolving storm water and sewerage issues in Shiwalik and adjoining colonies.The NHAI officials assured that the project would be completed within 20 days, with teams working round-the-clock to provide relief to commuters.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also kick-started the Rs. 2.09 crore repair and construction work of the Nijjar Chowk–Chhaju Majra road, which was much needed after the laying of sewer and storm water lines. She emphasized that the project, being a key connector between Kharar–Landra and Chandigarh–Kharar roads, will be completed on priority basis to address the long-pending demand of local residents.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by ADC (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Kharar Mrs. Divya P, Executive Officer, Municipal Council Kharar, Sukhdev Singh, and senior officials from NHAI.
