Deeply moved by the devastating floods in Punjab, Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has announced a grant of ₹50 lakh from his discretionary funds to support the affected people. Out of this grant, five villages are being provided with boats and drinking water tankers. A few days ago, in the presence of Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, Sant Seechewal had also announced the provision of motorboats.

Among these, three villages of Kapurthala district—Sangra, Ahli Kalan, and Rampur Gohra—have already been issued grants. Similarly, to overcome the drinking water shortage faced during the floods in the Majha region, water tankers have been given to four villages of Ajnala. So far, more than ₹43 lakh has already been released from his funds.

Sant Seechewal said he has always stood by flood victims. He shared that he personally understands the pain of the villagers living near the Dhussi embankment of the Sutlej River, which has breached three times. He noted that people trapped in water for the past 24 days are facing severe hardships. Since August 11, he has continuously been engaged in relief work for the flood-hit families.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to those bringing relief supplies, adding that the people of Punjab are embodying the spirit of Sarbat da Bhala (welfare of all) by helping one another in this time of crisis. For the convenience of those bringing relief materials and to assist flood victims, Sant Seechewal has released mobile numbers: +91 94630-60363, +91 81466-93793, +91 97818-35919.

These will help them get accurate information about when to deliver the relief goods. He further stated that the real extent of the damage will only become clear once the water recedes, and that rebuilding the lives of the affected will require significant service and support.

It is worth recalling that during the 2023 floods in the Shahkot area, Sant Seechewal had donated an excavator machine from his salary for flood relief efforts. That machine played a key role in repairing two breaches in the Dhussi embankment at that time. Even now, the same machine is being used to help farmers by strengthening embankments in flood-affected regions.

Nihang Head Baba Balbir Singh, Manish Sisodia, and MP Satnam Singh Sandhu meet Sant Seechewal

Baba Balbir Singh, Head of the 96 Crore Budha Dal, along with Nihang Singh groups, met Sant Seechewal today at Baupur Bridge, where he has been serving flood victims. Praising Sant Seechewal, he said that the spiritual leader has been steadfastly working in the service of flood-affected areas since day one.

He added that Sant Seechewal’s efforts have given courage to the flood victims. Baba Balbir Singh assured him that the Sikh community and Nihang Singh groups fully stand with him.

Similarly, yesterday, Rajya Sabha nominated member Satnam Singh Sandhu and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met Sant Seechewal and toured the flood-affected areas by boat.
