District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and deliberate on the rollout of the Jammu & Kashmir Climate Innovation Programme (JKCIP) in the district.
During the meeting, the DDC emphasized the importance of JKCIP in promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices across the district. He directed that JKCIP must be implemented in four identified blocks Thanamandi, Darhal, Budhal and Rajouri with a focus on integrated development through convergence with other line departments.
The DDC directed officials to ensure wide publicity of JKCIP through Self Help Groups (SHGs) and emphasized training of Krishi Udyamis (KUs) regarding JKCIP portal to build their capacity for climate-smart interventions.
He also stressed on convergence with other schemes, especially water management components under MGNREGA to maximize impact and resource utilization. Highlighting the significance of promoting the wool sector, the DDC called for the organisation of a dedicated workshop for wool growers in collaboration with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
He underscored the importance of avoiding duplication of beneficiaries and targeting interventions within defined cluster areas. The DDC directed the formulation of a comprehensive awareness plan on HADP and climate-smart agriculture to enhance understanding at the grassroots level.
Regarding the HADP component, it was decided that centralized distribution of resources will be carried out at the sub-divisional level, and concerned departments were asked to expedite fertilizer and seed licensing procedures.
