A special financial inclusion camp was organized in Jhiurheri village, Mohali district, as part of the ongoing three-month Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign. This initiative is being carried out by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India, Ajay Kumar was the Chief Guest at the event. He was joined by Managing Director & CEO, Punjab National Bank, Ashok Chandra; Regional Director, RBI Chandigarh, Vivek Srivastava; Chief General Manager, NABARD, Vinod Kumar Arya; and General Manager, Pankaj Setia.
Also present were Convenor, SLBC Punjab, Parmesh Kumar; Deputy General Manager, PNB & SLBC Punjab, Ram Kishor Meena; Circle Head, PNB, Pankaj Anand; and Lead District Manager, Mohali, M.K. Bhardwaj. Senior officials and state heads from SBI, PGB, PSB, BOB, UBI, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank also participated actively.
Executive Director, RBI, Ajay Kumar stated that the campaign, running from July 1 to September 30, 2025, is a key initiative aimed at ensuring every eligible citizen has access to banking and social security schemes. Camps are being organized at the village level to open Jan Dhan accounts, update KYC in inactive accounts, enroll people in insurance schemes (PMJJBY, PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), spread awareness about digital fraud prevention, and provide complaint redressal services—all in one place.
He emphasized that this is not just a banking activity, but a social mission. Every individual should join and also encourage others to join so that no eligible citizen is left out. Thousands in Punjab have already benefited, and the campaign will move ahead even faster in the coming days.
Managing Director & CEO, PNB, Ashok Chandra said the campaign is a major step towards ensuring banking and social security access for all. He shared that PNB, as the convenor bank of SLBC Punjab, is leading the initiative in 10 districts and is actively promoting financial literacy in villages.
He informed that PNB has already connected millions of citizens to Jan Dhan accounts, insurance schemes, and pension plans. With over 10,000 branches, 33,000+ business correspondent points, mobile apps, and internet banking, these services are easily available.
He highlighted the importance of cyber safety and advised customers not to share personal details with anyone. In case of fraud, they should report immediately through the cyber portal or helpline number 1930.
He concluded by saying that this campaign is a strong step toward creating positive change in society by ensuring “security for every citizen and financial support for every family.” He urged citizens, bank staff, and partner institutions to turn this campaign into a people’s movement and work together to achieve its goals.
During the camp, banks conducted on-the-spot KYC updates and enrolled people in social security schemes. A large number of villagers participated. Cheques of ₹2 lakh each were distributed to beneficiaries of deceased claims under the insurance schemes. General Manager, SBI, expressed gratitude to all attendees for their active participation.
