Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Monday chaired a meeting at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat here to review preparations for the upcoming Independence Day 2025 celebrations.

The meeting discussed various arrangements and measures to be taken to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of Independence Day events across the district. It was informed that, apart from the main function at Bandipora, similar celebrations will be held at the sub-divisional and block levels, as well as in all schools, colleges, and government institutions of the district.

DC emphasized the importance of the national event and directed all departments to ensure that every arrangement is meticulously planned and efficiently executed. He urged departments to work in close coordination for the seamless celebration of the Independence Day functions.

DC issued instructions to various departments to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place and fully functional well ahead of the event. On the occasion, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was directed to ensure the availability of emergency medical services at all venues, while the PHE department was tasked with making adequate arrangements for drinking water facilities.

Qadri also stressed that the celebrations should foster a festive atmosphere across the district. He instructed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora to organize youth- and public-focused engagement programmes, including cultural and patriotic activities, to encourage wide participation and instill a spirit of patriotism and community involvement.

He also directed the concerned officers to ensure smooth traffic movement and prevent congestion during the event. Further, DC instructed all sectoral and district officers to ensure proper flag hoisting arrangements at their respective offices. 

He also advised them to illuminate government offices and buildings as part of the celebrations. Ex. Engineer PDD Bandipora/Sumbal was also directed to ensure the illumination of government buildings, prominent places, and bridges in the district.

On the occasion, DC stressed the need for effective interdepartmental coordination to ensure vibrant and smooth celebrations of Independence Day 2025. Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC, Zafar Husson Shawal; ACR, Shabir Ahmad Wani; SDM Sumbal, Murtaza Ahmad; SDM Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad; ACD, Bashir Ahmad; DySP DAR, Ahmad Shafi; officers from the Army, CRPF, various district departments, and other concerned officials.
