In a significant move aimed at empowering the youth and fostering self-employment, a district level implementation committee (DLIC) meeting was held today under Mission YUVA at Baramulla. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, and witnessed the approval of 53 cases of aspiring young entrepreneurs from across the district.

The approved cases span a wide range of sectors, highlighting the diverse entrepreneurial interests of local youth and their potential to contribute to Baramulla’s economic development. These youth will now receive financial assistance and capacity-building support under the Mission YUVA framework.

Mission YUVA is a flagship initiative of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir that aims to create a strong support ecosystem for youth-led enterprises. The mission provides end-to-end support including skill development, financial aid, mentorship, and market linkages to unemployed and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Speaking on the occasion, DC lauded the enthusiasm and participation of local youth. He emphasized the need for timely disbursement of funds and continuous mentoring to ensure sustainability of the approved ventures.

He remarked that Mission YUVA is not just a scheme but a movement to instill innovation, enterprise, and self-reliance among the district’s youth. The meeting was attended by all members of the DLIC and SBDU, as well as officers from the District Employment & Counselling Centre (DE&CC) Baramulla.

A comprehensive presentation on the applications received and the screening process conducted at the SBDU level was shared during the session. It was noted that intensive awareness campaigns and engagement activities across both rural and urban areas had generated a strong response from the youth.

The committee also discussed strategies for further mobilization, training, and digital onboarding of youth under the mission. DC directed officials to intensify outreach programmes, organize mobile registration camps, and conduct entrepreneurship awareness drives to ensure wider coverage.

He assured the beneficiaries of continuous monitoring and support from the administration and expressed hope that Mission YUVA would open new avenues of livelihood while reducing dependence on government jobs.
